8 Ways to Open Control Panel in Windows 10 or Windows 11

There are several ways to open Windows Control Panel. Still the central hub of Windows, the Control Panel can help you manage nearly every aspect of your operating system. Whether it’s keywords or mouse settings, passwords and user registrations, or fiddling with sound and other hardware settings, the Control Panel has access to it all. Even though Microsoft is moving to replace Control Panel with Windows Settings, you can still control your PC from Control Panel, and for some settings, it’s the only place to go.

So it’s no surprise that there are so many ways to launch the Control Panel. So let’s start with some of the easiest ways at our disposal first.

1. Start Menu Search Bar

Go to the The start menu search bar, type “control panel” in the search box and select the best match. The Control Panel will open.

2. File Explorer

You can also open the Control Panel from the File Explorer. File Explorer, formerly known as Windows Explorer, is a file management application that works as a graphical user interface, which in turn helps you edit, manage data and other file contents.

To open File Explorer, select the folder icon on the taskbar below.

In File Explorer, select Office and from there click on Control Panel.

3. Run Dialog

The Run dialog box is a handy utility to help you access all kinds of files on your Windows computer. You can also launch the Control Panel with it. To get started, go to The start menu, type ‘run’ and select the best match. Or, press Windows key + R.

In the Run dialog box, type “control panel” and press Enter. The Windows Control Panel will launch.

4. Command Prompt

You can also use Windows Command Prompt to open Windows Control Panel. Just go to the Windows key + X. Or alternatively, go to The start menu search bar, type “cmd” and press Enter.

When the command prompt is launched, type the following command and press Enter:

5. Start Menu Shortcut

If you need to open Control Panel almost every day, there’s a sneaky way to get there. How? ‘Or’ What? You can simply pin the Control Panel shortcut to the Start menu so you can launch anytime from there. Here’s how:

Click on the Start button, and type “control panel”. Of the, right click on the control panel and select Pin to start.

Now, whenever you want to open the Control Panel, just click on the Start Windows button, and you will find the Control Panel icon in the Pin section.

6. Task Manager

Infamous as a lifesaver for all suspended Windows processes, the Task Manager is a handy application in Windows operating system; any player.

But it has many other uses as well. One such use is its functionality to launch different Windows applications. Here’s how:

To launch Task Manager, go to the Windows power menu. Right click on the Start Windows button and select the Task Manager. In Task Manager, click File > Run New Task.

7. Desktop Shortcut

Desktop shortcuts are a convenient way to launch different Windows applications. They are also very convenient, especially if you need to use the specified application over and over again. Interestingly, you can also open the Control Panel with a simple shortcut. Here’s how:

Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New > Shortcut. In the new dialog box that appears, type “control panel” in the Browse… box, and press Enter. Then give the screenshot a relevant name (we named it Control Panel), and select To finish.

8. File Explorer Address Bar

The File Explorer address bar is located in the upper left corner of the Windows operating system. Interestingly, you can also use this address bar to open Control Panel in your Windows. Here’s how:

Click on the > in front of the computer icon. As soon as you do this, you will get a drop-down list from which you can select the Control Panel. Click this Control Panel icon, the Control Panel menu will open.
